Keep yourself safe online

Security checklist

Here are five golden rules for keeping yourself safe online.

1. Choose a strong, unique password for each online account you have.

Pick a password only you know. Never write it down or share it, or use words or numbers personal to you. For more hints on creating a strong password read our article ‘How to up your password game’.

2. Always ensure you log out from any online account once you have completed your session.

3. Install anti-virus software to your devices and update them regularly.

4. Be careful when opening unsolicited emails

Unexpected emails may be malicious. If it looks suspicious and you don’t know the sender, delete it.

5. Never click on an email link or attachment.

Unless you have requested it, don’t open attachments, or click on links, as some can lead you to fake websites waiting to steal your details.
