Have you considered the importance of estate planning?

Many people don’t realise that inheritance tax (IHT) can apply once your estate goes over £325,000, although some people may also benefit from an additional residence nil rate band when passing on a home to direct descendants. This includes property, money, investments, and everyday belongings, and from April 2027, unused pension savings may also form part of your estate for inheritance tax. This can affect how much of your wealth is ultimately passed on to the people who matter most.

Estate planning helps ensure your wishes are followed and that as much of your estate as possible passes to the people you choose. However, the rules around inheritance tax can be complex and lots of people don’t understand how allowances apply or what their tax position will be.

That’s where I can help. I can help you to get a clear picture of the value of your taxable estate, explore ways to manage or reduce any tax liability and put a long-term plan in place that fits your goals and circumstances.

If you’d like to take control of your legacy, let’s talk about how I can support you.

I am a financial planner, focused on helping individuals and families make confident, well-structured decisions about their money in a down-to-earth, straightforward way. With the right plan in place, many people can achieve more than they initially expect—not just financially, but in the life their money supports.

After more than a decade working in the beer industry, I transitioned into financial advice, driven by a long-standing interest in how thoughtful financial planning can shape both wealth and quality of life. My background has given me a strong appreciation for building relationships, understanding people’s individual circumstances and delivering a high standard of personal service.

I work with clients who value clarity, organisation and a considered approach to managing their finances. This includes support with investment strategy, retirement planning and broader financial decisions, always aligned to what matters most to them.

My approach is centred on long-term relationships and a clear understanding of each client’s priorities, values and ambitions. I believe good financial advice should simplify complexity, bring structure to decision-making and give clients confidence about the future.

Having travelled to over 50 countries, I bring a broad perspective and a natural curiosity about people’s lives, experiences and goals. This helps me connect with clients from a wide range of backgrounds and understand the different paths that shape financial decisions.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my young family, exploring our local area by bike or planning our next trip away in the van.

I am also an on-call firefighter with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, which I value for its teamwork, practical challenges and the opportunity to contribute to the community.
