Before moving into financial planning, I spent many years working in software services, predominantly within the financial services industry. This experience gave me first-hand insight into the challenges many professionals face, including balancing busy careers with family life, accumulating multiple pension arrangements and finding time to focus on long-term financial goals.
Throughout my career, I have worked with organisations of different sizes and at various stages of growth. This has helped me understand the opportunities and financial decisions that often arise as careers and circumstances evolve. I have long believed that many people are not as prepared for their financial future as they could be. My goal is to help people understand where they are today, where they want to get to and what they can do to bridge the gap, while identifying potential pitfalls along the way. I believe financial planning should be clear, practical and relevant to real life, helping people build long-term financial security and feel more confident about their financial future.
I've seen for myself what happens when financial planning gets pushed down the list while everything else in life takes priority. The problem is that the consequences of putting it off are rarely obvious at the time. Sometimes we all need a little help to take that step, and that's where I add value.
Outside of work, I have a young family, which has given me a completely different perspective on my own priorities and finances, particularly how these need to work alongside a career and the demands of everyday life. My family keeps me busy, quite literally, as I spend plenty of time ferrying my daughter to her various activities! We enjoy getting out into the countryside, particularly walking and cycling, and we're keen followers of a number of sports, including rugby, cricket and cycling. We also share a love of film, music and reading, although, as with most families, our tastes don’t always align!
