Aim to maximise your cash savings

It might shock you to know that 28% of people hold their cash in interest-free savings accounts(1), receiving no return on their hard-earned money. Because under current rules a basic rate taxpayer can earn up to £1,000 in interest from their savings without paying tax, these people could be missing out on a significant financial boost that they could be enjoying.

This is even more relevant when you consider that the average person typically holds up to 25% of their available money on cash deposit(2). So, by reviewing your cash and tackling any ‘lazy money’, you’ll be making a great start at getting your finances in shape and achieving longer-term financial security.

If your money isn’t working as hard as it could, I can help. By making it easy to access potentially better interest rates, I can help you to aim to maximise your cash savings – giving you more money to spend on the things you enjoy or helping you grow your money towards a longer-term goal.

Nick is located in Annesley and offers expert financial advice to suit your needs.

I first became interested in financial advice after helping a colleague with their finances whilst serving in the Navy. Seeing the difference it made — and the weight it lifted — made me think how valuable good advice can be. I don’t believe financial advice should feel formal or transactional. It should be a conversation — understanding what matters to you, what you’re working towards and what concerns you might have — then building a plan around that.

Financial planning is about more than just investments. Life events such as illness, injury or loss can have a huge impact and having the right plans in place means you can focus on what really matters, without added financial stress. I also understand that finance is something many people put off as it can feel complex or overwhelming. My role is to simplify things, give you clarity and help you feel in control of your finances.

How I work

I follow a clear, structured process:

  • We start with an initial conversation to understand your situation and goals
  • Then build a full picture of your finances
  • I create a tailored, tax-efficient plan based on your needs
  • We review it together and keep it updated as your life evolves

I’m happy to work remotely, but I also value face-to-face meetings where possible.

Alongside my time in the Royal Navy (now continuing as a reservist), I’ve also worked as a self-employed property developer, bringing practical, real-world experience of managing risk, cashflow and long-term financial decisions.

Family is a big driver for me. Outside of work, I spend my time with my wife and young daughter whether that’s days out or enjoying the countryside with our ‘lively’ Cocker Spaniel. I’m also a keen hockey player and enjoy watching rugby.
