Matthew Bowen

Financial Adviser ACSI in Sussex

A little bit about Matthew

As a Financial Conduct Authority registered adviser and a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments, I see how most people’s money could be doing more than they think, they’re just not aware of it. The first people I ever helped were my parents, and seeing how much it changed their financial outlook is what got me into this. Today, I do this so my clients have more money available to them, more time to enjoy it, and less stress around their finances.

My financial planning style is influenced by my background in engineering and project management at one of the world’s most reputable automotive manufacturers. I spent years simplifying complex engineering topics into clear, practical language, and that’s exactly how I approach finance. I focus on building plans that are structured properly, easy to understand, and tailored to you, so you can achieve your goals in a way you’re comfortable with.

I help you understand where you are now, what you want to achieve, and whether what you’re currently doing will get you there. From there, we put a clear plan in place, using what you have in the most effective way and giving you access to high-quality products where appropriate. As things change, we adapt the plan so you stay on track.

I live in Sussex but service clients up and down the country.

Aim to maximise your cash savings

It might shock you to know that 28% of people hold their cash in interest-free savings accounts(1), receiving no return on their hard-earned money. Because under current rules a basic rate taxpayer can earn up to £1,000 in interest from their savings without paying tax, these people could be missing out on a significant financial boost that they could be enjoying.

This is even more relevant when you consider that the average person typically holds up to 25% of their available money on cash deposit(2). So, by reviewing your cash and tackling any ‘lazy money’, you’ll be making a great start at getting your finances in shape and achieving longer-term financial security.

If your money isn’t working as hard as it could, I can help. By making it easy to access potentially better interest rates, I can help you to aim to maximise your cash savings – giving you more money to spend on the things you enjoy or helping you grow your money towards a longer-term goal.

I’ve always been a keen sports person and it’s played a big part in my life, although these days that’s moved more towards the gym and keeping myself fit. I grew up in Sussex and still live here today, while working with clients across the country. My areas of expertise include helping you build wealth, plan for retirement, create generational wealth and protect what matters most to you. With so much information now available around finance, it can feel overwhelming, and what I aim to provide is a single point of truth, someone you can rely on to take the pressure of managing your finances, so you can focus on what matters most to you.
