Aim to maximise your cash savings

It might shock you to know that 28% of people hold their cash in interest-free savings accounts(1), receiving no return on their hard-earned money. Because under current rules a basic rate taxpayer can earn up to £1,000 in interest from their savings without paying tax, these people could be missing out on a significant financial boost that they could be enjoying.

This is even more relevant when you consider that the average person typically holds up to 25% of their available money on cash deposit(2). So, by reviewing your cash and tackling any ‘lazy money’, you’ll be making a great start at getting your finances in shape and achieving longer-term financial security.

If your money isn’t working as hard as it could, I can help. By making it easy to access potentially better interest rates, I can help you to aim to maximise your cash savings – giving you more money to spend on the things you enjoy or helping you grow your money towards a longer-term goal.

People often ask me why I decided to become a financial planner. The honest answer is because I love getting to know people and I enjoy helping people make sense of their finances and feel confident in the decisions they make. Every situation requires a bespoke solution.

People often tell me they feel overwhelmed by their finances. Using my experience as a teacher, I can turn a potentially overwhelming situation into one where you truly understand your options and give you the confidence that you’re on track to achieve your goals.

I follow a similar process with all clients. You, the client, are always at the centre of it all. The solutions and outcomes are what differ from person to person.
1. I get to know you; what’s important to you and where you see yourself in the future
2. We look at your current provisions to see whether what you already have in place is enough to get you to where you want to go
3. If there is a more efficient way to achieve your goals, we will look at how we can work together moving forward.

Many people I speak to aren’t sure if they’re on track to get to where they want to be financially – or if they are being as tax-efficient as possible. If this sounds like you, I can help.

If you have never looked at your finances before and want some advice on where to get started, I can help guide you through what seems like an impossible maze right now.

Outside of work, I have a beautiful family with two young girls. We like to explore new places and try new things. And apparently, I now like gymnastics (I had no choice in the matter!). In my own time, I enjoy playing football, squash and golf. I’m also lucky enough to be a Wrexham AFC season ticket holder!
