Ellie Shaw

Financial Adviser, DipPFS in South Kensington

A little bit about Ellie

Financial independence has shaped my life from an early age. It taught me the value of planning ahead, making informed decisions and building long-term financial security—principles that continue to guide both my personal life and my work with clients today.

For more than 20 years, I built an international career in Corporate & Investment Banking and Wealth Management, working with some of the world's leading financial institutions, including HSBC, Barclays, RBS, First Abu Dhabi Bank and Itaú Unibanco. My career has taken me across Europe, Middle East, Asia and LATAM where I managed global clients relationships on complex financial solutions.

While the transactions were often significant, I discovered that the most rewarding part of my career was never the deals themselves—it was the relationships. Understanding what motivated my clients, earning their trust and helping them achieve meaningful outcomes became the foundation of how I work.

Coming into a sum of money can be exciting and overwhelming at the same time, especially if it’s sudden or unexpected. And while you’re trying to process all the emotions involved, you’ll probably have to make some important financial decisions as well.

Whether you’ve received an inheritance, a windfall, or a lump sum from work, having an adviser to help guide you and make a sensible plan can take away some of the stress and worry so you can focus on the benefits.

I can help you understand all the different options available to you, taking advantage of any allowances so your money works as tax-efficiently as possible.

I can also help you adjust your financial plans or make completely new ones by showing you how the choices you make today could impact your future.

Together, we can put your money to work in a way that helps you feel confident about the future.

Today, as a Financial Planning Consultant with Quilter Financial Advisers, I've chosen to bring that same relationship-led approach to individuals and families. Rather than helping organisations, I now help people make informed financial decisions that support the lives they want to live. Whether you're building wealth, protecting your family, planning for retirement or creating a legacy for future generations, my aim is to simplify the complex and provide advice you can feel confident about.

Alongside my practical experience, I hold the Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning (CII) and the Diploma in Investment Advice (CISI), combining institutional expertise with regulated financial planning to provide thoughtful, personalised advice.

For me, financial planning is never just about investments or pensions—it's about helping people create choices, freedom and peace of mind. Those are the relationships I hope to build with every client.

Outside of work, I'm a proud mother of two teenage daughters, and family remains at the centre of everything I do. Raising a family has reinforced my belief that good financial planning isn't simply about wealth—it's about creating opportunities and security for the people we care about most.

Having travelled extensively and lived and worked internationally, I've developed a genuine appreciation for different cultures and perspectives. Those experiences have taught me that while everyone's financial journey is unique, the aspirations are often remarkably similar: to provide for family, enjoy life with confidence and leave a lasting legacy.

I'm passionate about lifelong learning, staying active and spending time outdoors. Bormio holds a special place in my heart, where I enjoy skiing and mountaineering activities during summer. Closer to home, you'll often find me on a padel court or sometimes in the golf course or enjoying the social side of sport and the balance it brings to a busy life.

Friends and colleagues would describe me as approachable, curious and someone who genuinely enjoys connecting with people. I believe the best financial advice starts with listening, and that strong relationships are built on trust, openness and understanding.

If you're looking for an adviser who combines international financial experience with a personal, down-to-earth approach, I'd be delighted to help you take the next step towards achieving your financial goals.
