Quilter is one of the founding members of ‘LGBT Great’ – the first organisation with an exclusive focus on the LGBT+ agenda specifically for the investment industry.
LGBT Great’s recent report found that 62% of those in the industry who were surveyed have no visible allies in their workplace – something Quilter is working hard to change by promoting inclusion and diversity in collaboration with the Diversity Project (a cross-company initiative championing a more inclusive culture within the savings and investment profession), the Investment Association, and other initiatives and organisations.
A passionate LGBT+ ally
Quilter’s Chief Operating Officer, Karin Cook, has pledged her support as an LGBT+ ally and is one of 50 Executives taking part in the ‘#50for50 campaign’. The campaign marks 50 years since the Stonewall movement – widely considered by many as a catalyst for progress in LGBT+ equality and human rights – began in New York.
Karin is a passionate LGBT+ ally, and works to raise awareness and visibility of diversity and inclusion, breaking down barriers to provide a safe and welcoming environment for all colleagues. She has been named twice in the Financial Times top 10 OUTstanding LGBT+ allies list and was named Stonewall LGBT+ Ally of the year in 2016.
On 24 August, Quilter’s UK platform business showed its support by taking part in Southampton’s Pride parade. A symbolic recognition of LGBT+ history, Pride marches now take place all over the world to represent strength and unity, standing for inclusivity, visibility and celebrating love and equality.
