As many of us make resolutions to improve our physical health and wellness, it's important not to forget about our digital health as well. Protecting ourselves online is just as crucial as maintaining a healthy diet and exercise routine.

To help you create new, healthy security habits to keep your information safe and secure, here are our IT security experts’ tips on how to make online security a part of your routine:

  1. Understand your ‘Why’ – knowing why something is important can help you get past any initial inconvenience.
  2. Block out some time to the new habit. Make the commitment to your online safety!
  3. Start small: Instead of trying to overhaul all your online habits at once, start with one small behaviour that you can easily incorporate into your daily routine. This might be something as simple as using a password manager every time you log in to a new website.
  4. Make it convenient: The more convenient it is to perform a behaviour, the more likely we are to do it, so make it as easy as possible to adopt new online security habits. For example, once set up, a password manager is a very easy and convenient way to manage your passwords – it creates unique and strong passwords and will populate them automatically, meaning you only have to remember ONE strong password (for the manager itself!).

By following these tips, you can make online security a part of your routine and enjoy the benefits of increased protection and peace of mind.
