Unable to write or sign

You may be finding it difficult to sign your name, or your signature may no longer match the one we have on record for you.

Whatever the circumstance, we can help.

How we can help:

  • Some processes can be completed over the phone, such as address changes and amendments to Direct Debits. We can also accept instructions for a withdrawal from an ISA or Collective Investment Account (if there is no joint account holder) by phone.
  • Your financial adviser can meet you face to face and verify your signature.
  • You can book a visit to the Customer Lounge in Southampton where we can confirm your identity in person. To arrange this please call 0808 171 2626 8:30am to 5:30pm, Monday to Friday. A full list of the documents we can accept for identity can be found here.
  • Your doctor can confirm the reason why the signature does not match our sample on file.
  • If you have a permanent or deteriorating condition, you may want to consider appointing a power of attorney.
  • Attestation – a solicitor or doctor can confirm that you have been read the information, understand the information, and want to proceed. The solicitor/doctor signs to confirm this.

    Example wording:

    Attestation

I confirm that this document and the declarations have been read by the applicant Mr/Mrs/Ms/Mx…………………….., who is unable to sign their name, understands the nature of the application and agrees with and understands the information provided within this document and agrees to the content of this application by making this mark.
