Could you be more financially savvy this tax year?

Graphic of people planning their investments

March, and spring more generally, is often a time for fresh starts. And now your tax allowances are getting one too. The new tax year begins on 6 April, giving you time to plan how you’ll use all those new allowances to your advantage.

Take your ISA allowance. It can be tempting to leave it until the last minute to use it up. But, if you’re able to pay into it at the beginning of the year, you’re potentially getting a whole extra 12 months of time for your savings to grow.

A review right at the start of the tax year, or just before it, can also help us spot if there are any tax incentives you could use throughout the year.

You might be surprised just how many people don’t do this - and miss out on money that’s rightfully theirs. These tax incentives can be things like increasing your pension contributions or charitable giving to help offset your income tax.

I can also draw up a cashflow model to bring this to life. The model allows us to explore and compare different strategies and scenarios, so you can see the difference it will make to your long-term finances and goals.

If you want to find out more about the savvy financial strategies I could help you with this tax year, feel free to get in touch.

Client 1

I needed to set up a new pension as a business owner and I needed to transfer over my old pension from my previous company. I also needed a review of my life insurance and my financial planning up to retirement age.

I am grateful to Tom who advised me that my current cover did not include any financial support should I become ill or injured and need time out of the business, now I have a policy that will cover my monthly salary and a pay out after death. He has also set me up with a new pension and will arrange with my previous pension company to transfer the balance over so it is all in one place.

Lastly, he advised me about future savings for my children which I found really useful and will be putting in place.

Client 2

Received some excellent advice from Tom on a number of different matters. I am 59 I have a cognitive disability which affects my perception and understanding. The fact that I understood Tom from the start shows his communication skills are exceptional I was honestly amazed how I myself absorbed and retained the information he gave me.

Tom made everything crystal clear I am so pleased that I've been advised by Tom its literally changed my direction in life and made it so much better. Thank you Tom, keep up the good work!!

Client 3

Client 4

I didn’t know where to start and I found Tom via my trade union financial advice offer. Tom had made this process really straight forward guiding me step by step and providing clear straightforward advice and information. He’s really friendly and made me think about what I want out of retirement with projections for the future and explored ethical investing with me.

Tom was upfront about managing my expectations and the limitations but committed to finding me a close fit. I’ve felt really confident in the advice Tom has given. After my experience with Tom I sort of wish I’d taken this step earlier!
