Could you be more financially savvy this tax year?

Graphic of people planning their investments

March, and spring more generally, is often a time for fresh starts. And now your tax allowances are getting one too. The new tax year begins on 6 April, giving you time to plan how you’ll use all those new allowances to your advantage.

Take your ISA allowance. It can be tempting to leave it until the last minute to use it up. But, if you’re able to pay into it at the beginning of the year, you’re potentially getting a whole extra 12 months of time for your savings to grow.

A review right at the start of the tax year, or just before it, can also help us spot if there are any tax incentives you could use throughout the year.

You might be surprised just how many people don’t do this - and miss out on money that’s rightfully theirs. These tax incentives can be things like increasing your pension contributions or charitable giving to help offset your income tax.

I can also draw up a cashflow model to bring this to life. The model allows us to explore and compare different strategies and scenarios, so you can see the difference it will make to your long-term finances and goals.

If you want to find out more about the savvy financial strategies I could help you with this tax year, feel free to get in touch.

Sanna is located in South Devon and offers expert financial advice to suit your needs.

It is my firm belief that wealth management is something that all individuals and businesses should have access to. Too often I see barriers to entry to financial freedom - whether it's lack of confidence, experience or guidance. My aim is to detangle the mires of financial complexity, and bring understandable and accessible financial freedom to everyone. Whether starting out on your investment journey, or already an experienced investor, looking for a new approach, I offer a no-nonsense and jargon-free service with your needs put first and foremost.

My approach to financial planning has been shaped over my previous career as a bond trader in London and New York, my experience in teaching and project management, and spending time with people from all walks of life and with a wide range of financial needs. By taking the time to listen and get to know my clients, I am able to understand their objectives, and help navigate a path forwards. Working together, we build a bespoke plan tailored to your needs, taking your preferences, goals and wishes into account at every step. This could equally be a review of existing provisions, from ISAs to pensions, or a first step on the investment ladder, all whilst making the most of available tax efficiencies, and budgeting or cash flow modelling.

I focus on wealth and investment management, helping clients grow and safeguard their assets. By crafting personalised investment strategies, I ensure each plan aligns with the client’s unique risk tolerance, financial goals, and time horizon. My approach is built on thorough analysis and a deep understanding of market dynamics, allowing me to provide guidance through both prosperous and challenging economic times. Pension planning is also a core part of my expertise. Recognising the importance of financial security in retirement, I collaborate closely with clients to create strategies that maximise pension contributions while optimising tax efficiency. Whether just beginning or approaching the end of your career, I offer tailored advice to help ensure a secure and stress-free retirement.

Beyond wealth management and pensions, I can also assist with savings strategies and protection plans. I help establish solid financial safety nets through well-designed savings plans that address both short-term and long-term goals. With my knowledge of protection strategies such as life insurance, critical illness cover, and general insurance , I can ensure you and your assets are shielded from life's unexpected challenges.

I live with my husband and dog in the beautiful countryside of South Devon, and love spending time with them on Dartmoor, playing music with my folk performance group, or at home gardening and doing DIY.
