A little bit about Ryan

I’m Ryan, a financial adviser who focuses on the person first, rather than the product. I guide clients to financial freedom—where work becomes optional—allowing them to maintain their desired lifestyle while dedicating time to what truly matters. Financial security isn’t just about money; it’s the freedom to live life on your terms, planning for the future without sacrificing the present.

Gifts that give back

Graphic of people exchanging gifts

December is often seen as the gifting season. But alongside the usual socks and chocolate gold coins, it might be worth planning a slightly bigger, longer-term present for your loved ones this year.

Inheritance tax (IHT) is notoriously complicated and can hit people with a big bill if it isn’t managed properly. It isn’t reserved for the very wealthy either. Dealing with IHT is a reality that many more families face after a loved one has passed - in what is usually an extremely vulnerable moment.

This is where using your gifting allowances can make a real impact on those around you. It’s a great way to share your wealth with the people you love while limiting their exposure to IHT. It does take a little bit of extra planning though.

Sitting down with an adviser like me can help you figure out where you want your money to go, and when. For instance, it might be more helpful to gift a family member a contribution towards their first home now, rather than leaving them a legacy.

Whatever you decide is best, we’ll find the most tax efficient way to do it.

I follow a three-step process with my clients:

  1. Discovery: Our initial meeting focuses on you - where you are now and where you want to be. Understanding your unique story is paramount.
  2. Financial Planning: In this meeting, we answer the critical question: ‘How much is enough?’ When does work become optional for you to maintain your desired lifestyle and spend time doing what truly matters?
  3. Implementation: During this meeting, we review my recommendations and implement any advice that is appropriate in helping you get to where you need to go.

Outside of work, I cherish time with my wife, Kate, and our daughter, Lily. We’re passionate about cruising, enjoying incredible sunsets and the excitement of waking up in a new place every day. We also love visiting National Trust sites like Kingston Lacy and Stourhead, where we immerse ourselves in the beautiful and well-preserved scenery.
