Paul’s story – this is me

In 2018 Quilter signed the Time to Change pledge to demonstrate our commitment to reduce the stigma and silence around mental health in the workplace. Time to Change is a campaign to change how we all think and act about mental health problems, led by the charities Mind and Rethink Mental Illness. Set up to create a positive shift in public attitudes towards mental health problems, it supports communities, schools and workplaces to open up to mental health problems; to talk and to listen.

Inspired by the Time to Change campaign Paul Feeney, CEO of Quilter very bravely set about sharing his own personal story.

Paul Feeney

“I’ll be honest, when I told my own personal story of my struggles with mental health, I was really nervous, but the reaction I’ve had since then has been such an eye opener! You would not believe the number of people who got in touch with me directly to share their own experiences in response to me talking about mine. Mental health touches so many of us and speaking up has shown me that not only is it okay not to be okay, but that none of us are alone in it.”

Leading from the front, this has encouraged colleagues from around Quilter to open up and talk more freely about their own experiences. At Quilter, we believe that it’s vitally important that everyone feels supported with their wellbeing, and in turn this is vital to our business success. We genuinely want to create an environment in which our colleagues don’t just succeed - they thrive.
