We want to help people achieve a secure financial future and support their overall wellbeing

Quilter’s core purpose is to help create prosperity for the generations of today and tomorrow. Given current uncertain economic and political times, for us, it’s more important than ever to help people to achieve a safe and secure financial future and support their overall wellbeing.

We have a role to do this, whether it’s by supporting people into sustained and fulfilling employment, or helping people to achieve their long-term financial goals for retirement.

  • 46% of UK adults report low understanding about financial matters.
  • 55% of working-age adults do not feel that they understand enough about pensions to make decisions about saving for retirement
  • Two thirds of employees who are struggling financially report at least one sign of poor mental health that could affect their ability to function at work
  • 8% youth unemployment vs 3.9% for the whole population
  • 17% of unemployed 16-24 year olds have been out of work for a year or more

Our 2025 commitments:

Empower customers to be more engaged in their financial future

Progress:

We retained our focus on vulnerable customers throughout 2019.

In addition to our internal programmes to help customer facing colleagues support vulnerable customers we also continued to chair the industry working group of TISA to promote improvement across the industry.

This has involved working with charities to release a series of help-sheets to support financial firms to understand the difficulties that different vulnerabilities may create and how they can be addressed.

Enable colleagues to fulfil their potential and thrive in work

Progress:

We continued our focus on colleague engagement, culture and wellbeing during 2019.

To provide more meaningful engagement and real-time feedback we moved from a quarterly to a weekly culture survey for all colleagues.

We’ve also continued our wellbeing initiative, Thrive, with an ongoing focus on mental health championed by our CEO Paul Feeney.

Our NewStart programme which supports the armed forces community transition to civilian life also gained momentum in 2019.

Help communities to thrive and prosper

Progress:

Our charity, The Quilter Foundation, exists to help young people fulfil their potential, thrive and prosper.

We’re doing this through transformation partnerships with charitable organisations, including covering financial education, employment and our campaign to support young carers.
