About the Financial Adviser School

Part of Quilter, the Financial Adviser School plays an important role in our aim to create prosperity for the generations of today and tomorrow, by making financial advice more accessible.

We are longstanding supporters of financial advice as we believe people who take advice are more likely to reach their financial goals. The Financial Adviser School seeks to increase the number of advisers and raise standards within the industry by:

  • helping students achieve the qualifications, skills and professionalism required to have a successful career as a financial adviser
  • helping existing advisers to achieve advanced qualifications
  • helping existing advisers grow their businesses with the opportunity to sponsor students.

The school operates on a not-for-profit basis. In other words, the fees it receives are reinvested to help enhance the development of the school including the programmes it offers.

Embracing diversity

With the Pension Freedoms putting more people in charge of their own retirement income, there is an unprecedented need for financial advisers, meaning regardless of somebody’s background now is a great time to build a career as a financial adviser.

The Financial Adviser School is committed to encouraging more women to enter the advice field, with over 30% of students being female, compared to an estimate of just 11% of female advisers in the UK. Quilter plc was also highly commended for its efforts on gender diversity at the recent 2018 Women in Financial Advice Awards.

The school welcomes brand new students and people working within the industry, as well as offering dedicated support to career-changers, such as people with experience in the forces and those coming from a sporting profession. For advice firms, the school helps overcome the challenge of recruiting qualified, high-quality advisers to help expand the business or to ensure its continuity when a business owner retires.
