About Us

How does being over 200 years old make us fitter than ever?

Our heritage dates back to 1771 when William Morris and Sons was formed. This was a partnership of 150 stockbrokers which had created a club at Jonathan’s Coffee House. Two years later, The Stock Exchange was born in a building in Sweetings Alley with a dealing room on the ground floor and a coffee house above.

Quilter remained in the vanguard of the industry and, after merging with many small partnerships, became Quilter Goodison & Co in 1981.

At the time of ‘Big Bang’ in 1986 - which abolished out of date financial practices and opened the floodgates to international capital - Sir Nicholas Goodison was senior partner and Chairman of The Stock Exchange.

After being acquired by Commercial Union in 1988 and then Morgan Stanley in 2001, Quilter is now owned by the management and Bridgepoint - a leading European private equity firm.

Our ability to thrive in business for over 200 years derives from our willingness constantly to evolve.

We have embraced change and technology by developing an in-house IT system to meet our specific investment requirements.

Yet our standards and values have remained consistent. Our team spirit, character and integrity are what give us such a strong bond with clients and we believe these principles should never be under-estimated.

By getting to know you, we can answer your questions and work towards meeting your financial goals.
